OUR FARM DOGS
We utilize farm dogs, both livestock guardian dogs – or LGDs – and a herding dog to help us secure and manage our sheep. We have multiple predators to worry about, and corralling and sorting dozens of sheep is far more efficient with the help of a well trained dog.
We started with an Anatolian Shepherd mix, who has been wonderful in his own right, and then sought out LGDs specific to our situation. We settled on Karakachans and have added several to the farm.
Karakachan guard dogs, with their majestic, sturdy stature and unwavering loyalty, embody the epitome of devotion and protection. They are very well bonded to the livestock on our pastures, and we feel blessed to have them guard our farm.
These ancient Bulgarian guardians are not merely outside farm dogs but cherished members of the family whose centuries of select breeding have made them into beacons of stock security all around the world. With a gentle yet commanding demeanor, the Karakachan are unyielding and dedicated leaders to their flock, and each of them relishes their role as guardian.
Our herding dog is an Australian Kelpie.
They are all beloved here at Triple H Farms and have proven indispensable to our sheep operations.

Elsa is a fierce alpha female - an extraordinarily intelligent protector with a feminine beauty. She watches the flock like a hawk, but is as lovable as any lap dog you have ever met. She relishes living out under the stars and has a playful nature too.
She was born out of working parents who guarded a goat producer’s herd in North Georgia. She is only a couple generations removed from original Bulgarian bloodlines.

"Beau" is a big, beautiful boy - fierce in his own right, but much more goofy and easy going. He's the newest pup in the pasture, but is coming along very well. He can look big and scary, but he is also very loving and playful, loves hugs and rubs.
He was born out of working parents who guarded a longwool sheep producer’s herd in Virginia. He is only a couple generations removed from original Bulgarian bloodlines.
